When searching for a MS website, I wanted to first look at the one I went to. Once I got there, I was very into it, and found myself piddling around for a good while. The website was very easy to follow, and I felt like everything that needed to be on there was.
The fieldtrips that students had taken on the website were to very respected community places, and I love how the website publicized that for all to see. (View archived news) This was including community partners with their school.
Also on the website, I found amazing parent information (View parents). Parents were definitely kept in the loop at Bob Courtway and they already are informed as much as possible for the upcoming 11-12 school year. TWB standard discusses involving family invovlement, and any family question was easliy answered on the website. I also saw several times where the website stated for more questions to call the office.
Overall, the website was very informative to me and was very inviting. It was also fun for me to spend some time looking at it, thinking back to when I went to school there about how much had changed.
How neat to look at your old school! I could tell how much this school values their students. I wish we had opportunities for field trips to brag about. It looked like that one 8th grader got to shadow a local news anchor, how cool! I liked that they had a separate tab just for art. It showed a value for art that I think a lot of schools overlook. They seemed to have a good variety of student organizations, too, which is one of the areas I feel that my school is lacking. Those are so important for building a sense of community. Good site!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Amanda, it is really cool that you thought to go back to your own middle school. The website was easy to navigate, and it appears that they really pride themselves in having so many teachers with Master's or advanced degrees. They are also making efforts to encourage kids to start thinking about their career choices. I would love to work with Channel 7! Very cool! I'm curious, is this the only middle school in Conway? Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteActually, it isn't the only one. There are two, Bob Courtway and Carl Stuart. There are two 5/6 (Intermediate) schools too. However, we are having this huge 2012 change, and all schools will be revamped, all students will be rezoned, grades will change, and our new high school is coming. It'll be crazy. I'm anxious for the change....

ReplyDeleteBob Courtway is a excellent example of a great MS websites. It seems that all questions can be answered just by going to the websites. If I was a parent the home page would provide me with much if not all of the needed information for my child entering the school without all the hassal Not only does it provides answers but it prasie the students for the wonderful things the school has to offer.
